BOSTON, MA
(June 16, 2012) – In support of Hyatt Thrive, Hyatt’s global corporate responsibility platform, Hyatt Harborside, Hyatt Regency Boston and Hyatt Regency Cambridge are giving back to the community by engaging in a volunteer day with Special Olympics Massachusetts.

Coinciding with an Olympic year, fifty associates from the three Hyatts in Boston and Cambridge will be volunteering at Harvard University for the Special Olympics MA, Summer Games– joining Hyatt colleagues around the world in a month-long effort to give back to their local communities.  At the Summer Games, Hyatt associates will be assisting in the Track and Field events, escorting athletes in heats to and from events, Timing events and watching for disqualifications, assisting with award distribution and much more.

This volunteer day is a key tenet of Hyatt Thrive and part of Hyatt’s Global Volunteer Initiative, which is a brand-wide effort that encourages Hyatt associates to improve the many communities around the world that they call home.

Hyatt Thrive empowers over 90,000 associates at more than 480 properties around the world to help communities do one thing – Thrive – by focusing on four areas: environmental sustainability; economic development and investment; education and personal advancement; and health and wellness.

The Hyatts in Boston and Cambridge are dedicated to the local communities and the associates are honored to be a part of Hyatt’s Global Volunteer Initiative, assisting Special Olympics. Hyatt Thrive is a natural extension of Hyatt’s mission, which is to provide authentic hospitality by making a difference in the lives of people they come in contact with every day.

The volunteer work also coincides with a long-standing tradition of celebrating Hyatt associates around the world. Celebrating community and its people is a global demonstration of Hyatt’s dedication to thriving communities where associates live and work.
